Hormone-informed strength coaching for women 35–55 in Howard County — whether you've never touched a barbell or you're wondering why the workouts that used to work suddenly don't. Semi-private, individually programmed.

You did what they told you. Ate less. Ran more. Kept trying new plans. It worked in your 30s. Then somewhere around 40, your body stopped listening.
Here's what actually happened: your progesterone started dropping in your late 30s. Estrogen followed — first swinging wildly, then falling steadily. Your body's response to protein weakened. Recovery slowed. You started quietly losing muscle, replaced by fat, even when the scale barely moved.
The "eat less, move more" playbook isn't just failing you — it's actively making it worse. Under-eating tanks your metabolism. Chronic cardio spikes your cortisol. Every diet cycle costs you more of the lean mass that burns fat. The advice was never exactly wrong. It just wasn't built for the body you're in now.
What actually works: strength training that's genuinely heavy. Protein anchored to every meal. Sleep protected like a training variable, because it is. Walking instead of grinding. Recovery that matches your reality. Programming that respects your stage — pre, peri, or post — instead of treating you like a 25-year-old.
This is exactly what I do — in the studio and online.
I'm Glenn Waller — ISSA certified personal trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and the coach behind Muscle Mommy Coach. I run strength training for women navigating perimenopause and beyond, out of a full commercial studio in Maple Lawn, Fulton MD — and online for women anywhere.
Here's the honest part: I'm a man coaching women through one of the most physically and hormonally complex chapters of their lives. I know that's a question mark when women first find me. It should be. So let me answer it.
I've spent five-plus years studying the specific physiology of women in this stage — estrogen and progesterone rhythms, insulin sensitivity, visceral fat, sarcopenia, pelvic floor loading, bone density under progressive load. I stay current on the research. I refer out for HRT because that's a physician's call. And I hold a hard line on what actually works: strength with real load, protein per meal, sleep, and recovery.
My clients are professionals, mothers, executives, grandmothers. Semi-private means never more than five women in the room. Everyone gets seen. Everyone gets coached.
See the ways to train with meEvery client — in-studio or online — is coached through the same five pillars. Not a template, a framework. What changes is how each pillar gets applied to your body, your history, and your stage.
Progressive strength with real load. Compound patterns trained to technique failure, not the clock. Full-body, 2–3×/week.
Protein per meal — 30–40g × 4 meals. Enough calories to actually recover. No calorie cycling, no chronic under-eating.
Training matched to your recovery — sleep, cycle stage in peri, life stress. The program adjusts to your reality.
Full movement screen at intake. Corrective work in every program. Pelvic floor screening is non-negotiable.
We work with your healthcare team. HRT status, meds, surgical history, and bloodwork inform how we program.

I can run up and down the stairs again — and at 80, I still wear my high heels. This program gave me back my body.
Coach convinced me to start eating — and that's when the weight finally started coming off. I stopped fighting my body and started fueling it.
Before Coach, I didn't like working out. But my 50th was coming and I wanted to look good — and he got me there. Still going strong.
No call center, no bot maze. Text me your question and I'll get back to you personally. The quickest way to know if this is right for you is to just ask.

Real barbell- and dumbbell-led strength across all three planes, protein-per-meal nutrition anchoring, and fast strength and sleep gains. Everyone starts here to prove, quickly, that training built for your body actually works — most continue straight into the Core Membership. $299, one-time.
Absolutely — that's what MMC At-Home ($79/mo) is for: fully remote coaching with individualized app programming, a private community, two live coaching calls a month, and monthly video form reviews. Same method, same coach, from anywhere.
No. Roughly a third of my clients had never touched a barbell before they started. Every intake begins with a movement screen — we find where you can move safely, start there, and build. You don't need to get in shape to start. Starting is how you get in shape.
Almost certainly yes. I'm a Corrective Exercise Specialist — regressing, modifying, and working around injury history is the core skill of what I do. Every program is built around what your body can handle right now. If something is genuinely medically off-limits, I'll tell you and refer.
HRT is a physician's call, not mine. What I handle is training that complements what your endocrine system is doing. Women on HRT often recover better and build muscle more efficiently. Women not on HRT can still build strength and change body composition — it just takes tighter attention to protein, sleep, and total load.
Blunt answer: no. Visible "bulk" in women requires years of caloric surplus, high-volume training, and usually pharmaceutical help. What lifting will do is make you denser, more capable, and change your shape — smaller waist, fuller shoulders, stronger hips. I've never had a client end up "too muscular." Not once.
Yes, but we screen it thoroughly at intake. Loaded work can be done safely with proper breathing mechanics — the old "navel to spine" cue is often part of the problem. We teach 360-degree bracing instead. For active symptoms, I'll refer you to a pelvic floor PT to work in parallel.
Everyone starts with the 21-Day Kickstart — $299 (9 sessions). After that, semi-private caps at five women, so you get real hands-on coaching at a much friendlier rate than 1-on-1:
Core Membership — $597/mo · 3× a week, 12 sessions (≈ $49.75/session) · most popular
Hybrid — $269/mo · 1× a week + app programming
1-on-1 Private — $95/session (8-pack $760) · limited availability
Prefer to train remotely? MMC At-Home is $79/mo. Every option includes app programming for your days out of the studio.
30-day money-back guarantee. Show up, do the work, complete the check-ins. If you don't see and feel measurable progress in 30 days, your next month is on me — I keep coaching you until you do.
No fad diets, no calorie cycling, no cutting food groups. Hit protein per meal (30–40g × 4 for most peri/post women), eat enough to recover, protect sleep, and stop under-eating. That's it. 80% of results in this demographic come from protein and progressive loading — not spreadsheet-level tracking.
Muscle Mommy Coach is built specifically for peri and postmenopausal women. Focused Fitness (my LLC) takes a limited number of male clients on a private-only basis — reach out to ask.
The best first step is the 21-Day Kickstart — but if you'd rather just talk it through, book a free 15-minute call. No pressure, no pitch. Just a conversation about where you are and where you want to go.
